About Us
Forte magazine is a street press publication based in Geelong (Victoria, Australia) and distributed throughout Ballarat, Bendigo, Warrnambool, Werribee and along the Surfcoast and Bellarine peninsula. You can pick it up for free at universities, surf shops, clothing stores, music shops, cinemas, cafes, take away food outlets, train stations, video stores, supermarkets and the like every second Thursday.
Forte features music news on the local, national and international front. You’ll also find plenty of interviews, reviews (music + film), guides (gig + club), scene pics, stuff that will either offend you or make you laugh (courtesy of Tony Montana) and generally anything that comes under the pop culture heading. And if jungle, hip hop, electro funk tunes, or stuff that non-disco types might class as 'dance music', is your bag, then be sure to check out the Splinter section.
Forte has a readership that’s 35,000+. It’s primarily pitched at 17 to 35 year olds but appeals to anyone who has an interest in popular culture, music and the arts.
Forte turned 16 in December 07… check out the first ever issue below (Dec 12, 1991)!
